This under sink reverse osmosis system is tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 (includes P473), 58, and 401 to effectively reduce 88 contaminants, including 95% of fluoride. It’s also certified to remove 95% of mercury, 97% of chlorine and arsenic, and 99% of lead and asbestos while maintaining the benefits of healthy minerals other reverse osmosis systems remove. In all, the OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® removes 5X more contaminants than other RO systems.
The OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® features a multi-step filtration process to ensure maximum contaminant removal.
Step 1: Activated carbon filters out organic chemicals like herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, and MTBE.
Step 2: The system’s Reverse Osmosis Membrane is scientifically designed to filter dissolved solids smaller than 1 micron, and tackles 14 impurities including fluoride, arsenic nitrates, nitrites, and radium.
Step 3: The Claryum® filter block uses activated and catalytic carbon to filter organic chemicals and chlorine. Ion-exchange and sub-micron filtration tackle heavy metals and selective filtration retains healthy minerals.
Step 4: Finally, the Remineralizer adds back the ideal amount of calcium, magnesium, and potassium lost in the reverse osmosis process, and improves pH balance and water alkalinity for healthy, great-tasting water.
With the combined power of reverse osmosis, selective Claryum® filtration, and remineralization, you have immediate access to clean, healthy water for drinking, cooking, washing your vegetables, and more.

FAQ
Aquasana FAQs
1. Do I need a plumber to install the system?
Depending on your skills and experience, we recommend hiring a professional to install your reverse osmosis system. Installation does require drilling into your pipes, which is not recommended for individuals unfamiliar with plumbing and permanent appliance installation. Please read through the owner's manual carefully before attempting to install the system. If you have any questions or need assistance, our technical support representatives at 877-996-2875 can guide you through the installation process. Or, follow along with our installation video.
Drilling into your water pipes is required to install the Aquasana OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis +Claryum® filter. For an easy installation that requires zero drilling, we recommend our Claryum® Direct Connect filter. This DIY install filter connects directly to your cold water line. So, no drilling or altering your plumbing is required. Aquasana also has two countertop options that offer the same professional grade filtration as our under sink options, the Clean Water Machine or the Claryum® Countertop.
The faucet included with the Aquasana OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® is expertly designed to work with our reverse osmosis system. Any other Aquasana faucet or faucet from another filtration system not designed to work with a reverse osmosis system will not be compatible with the Aquasana OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® and may cause damage to your filtration system. If you choose to use another reverse osmosis air gap faucet, we recommend you seek the help of a plumber to ensure proper installation.
When R.O. membranes are manufactured, there is a preservative used to protect the membrane fibers from damage. This preservative needs to be flushed out after the system is installed and prior to drinking water from the RO system. In addition, the R.O. holding tank should be sanitized with a drop of bleach during the install. It is important to flush the system for the entire 24 hours during the initial install to ensure all the bleach from the holding tank is washed away before consumption.

Stage 1 (Carbon) and Stage 3 (Claryum) filter cartridges should be replaced every 6 months or up to 365 gallons. Stage 2 (R.O. Membrane) should be replaced every 12 months depending on usage and water quality. For homes with higher water usage and/or poorer water quality, you may need to replace your R.O. Membrane sooner than every 12 months. Stage 4 (Remineralizer) should be replaced every 12 months depending on usage and water quality.

Yes. The Aquasana OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® is NSF tested and certified to reduce over 95% of fluoride from your drinking water.
Yes. The Aquasana OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® is NSF tested and certified to reduce over 97% of arsenic from your drinking water.
The total volume of the holding tank is 3.2 gallons. Volume is based on your inlet water pressure. So, the gallons in the tank can vary from 1.4-3.2 gallons at any given time.
The OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® Under Sink Water Filter flows at a rate of 0.5 gpm (gallons per minute).

Reverse osmosis is an incredibly effective method of filtering water, and it essentially works by pushing water through a semi-permeable membrane (a porous block) at a high pressure to remove contaminants. As this pressurized water passes through the membrane, contaminants are left behind and only clean water passes through. For example, saltwater can be desalinized through reverse osmosis because the salt molecules will be left as water passes through the membrane.

Our reverse osmosis system uses this process in conjunction with a series of other filters to increase effectiveness and retain healthy minerals that are often lost during the RO process. Water first passes through our activated carbon filter to remove chemicals including herbicides and pesticides, then the system uses reverse osmosis filtration by pushing water through a semi-permeable membrane at a high pressure to remove dissolved solids smaller than 1 micron. Next, our Claryum® filter uses ion exchange and sub-micron filtration to remove heavy metals and other contaminants. Finally, our RO system uses remineralization technology to restore healthy minerals like calcium while improving the pH balance and alkalinity of water for exceptional taste.

Yes. The Aquasana OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® uses reverse osmosis to effectively purify your drinking water. In addition to reverse osmosis, the OptimH2O system also uses selective filtration to reduce over 70 other contaminants, plus includes a remineralizer designed to put back healthy minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium that are removed in the reverse osmosis process.

TDS, or Total Dissolved Solids, is the amount of dissolved minerals and metals present in water. TDS meters tell you the concentration of dissolved minerals and metals but are not an accurate measurement for contamination. Aquasana products reduce and remove harmful TDS like lead, but selectively retain or replace healthy dissolved solids like calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Read more about TDS here.

Aquasana OptimH2O® Reverse Osmosis + Claryum® comes standard with a 12-month remineralizer designed to replace healthy calcium, magnesium, and potassium lost in the reverse osmosis process.

Using a reverse osmosis water filter is a great way to remove harmful contaminants like lead, mercury, asbestos, and other impurities that have a range of health concerns. However, it’s important to note that the reverse osmosis process also tends to remove healthy minerals from your water as well, such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. To ensure you get the maximum health benefits from your water, make sure to use a filter that has a remineralizer, which restores the healthy minerals lost during reverse osmosis.
When installing your new water filtration system, it's critical for the system to be able to drain wastewater effectively. Do not install the drain connector onto the same drain pipe as the garbage disposal as this can cause blockages to the drain line of the water filtration system and could lead to water coming out of the air gap (keyhole) of the faucet. If the drain line must be installed on the same line as the garbage disposal, do not use the drain connector included. Instead, a garbage disposal adaptor is recommended and can be purchased separately. There are many types of these adapters available. An example of this type of adaptor can be found on Amazon by clicking here.
